....that there are still people reading this forum! More than I´d expect someone stated. ^^ Last topic I posted: 207 views (so far) - not bad! (Not bad for times like these.)
It´s times like these you learn to live again,
It´s times like these you give and give again,
It´s times like these you learn to love again,
It´s times like these time and time again.
Okay. I have a Roridula gorgonias in flower at the moment. The plant´s actually already too big for my conditions, so getting it alive through winter is a bit challenging. But the plant is quite brave. I´d need an extra metal halide lamp for the "Rori" but slowly all these energy consuming lights become too expensive for me. :( Let alone my lack of space for bigger plants.... This year it´s time to search for a good, new home for the plant. From spring to autumn it enjoys the sun on a South-West facing balcony where it catches countless prey (without benefitting from it as I host no Pameridea roridulae!). ;-) I will cocker the plant up for the coming summer to sell it. Seems I need to join a plant exhibition this year... ;-) Yes, the "Rori" will be taller than a metre in summer, so it´s impossible to ship it somewhere.
This is the place where "Rori" survives the winter. It get´s a little light from a 250 W metal halide lamp from one side and a little from a double 54 W fluorescent light from another side. Yeah, the leaves are terribly green! Hopefully this spring won´t be too frosty so I can put the "Rori" back to the balcony soon.
I was also thinking the plant flowers as a panic reaction to survive by seed - in case, ya know... ;-)
(In the background there are numerous small 5 cm square pots with Lithops plus a bunch of tuberous Droserae in big pots.)
I have moved the pot for some more photos into the living room where the light situation is more comfortable for my small digital camera. I´m sorry for the poor quality of my images. The times I produced "artwork" photos have definitely gone!
Hm...nice, so many flowers, isn´t it? =D
Last year my "Rori" also flowered in January/February which is a bit early I believe. And finally the plant flowered once again in June/July! Which is also out of time I think.
I guess it will be the same this summer! The plant will look much better in summer with reddish leaves!
I love these flowers! The camera has no macro mode - this is the closest I can get to still receive a reasonably sharp picture.
Using the digital zoom leads to this:
Well, I just wanted to show that this plant is currently pleasing me with mass flowering. It´s sad I need to give it away in half a year...
Regards,
Andy
