Hi all
I know little about genetics unfortunately, other than the basics of what to expect when you mix plant A with plant B and the ratios of expectations and that anthocyanin is a recessive gene, but that’s about it I’m afraid. That’s some background, now to the question, I have an purpurea hetrophylla that naturally exhibits all the definitions of AF, that threw up a flower late in the season last year, when no other flowers were blooming, that set seed. I therefore assumed that it was ‘selfed’ although I wouldn’t label the seedlings as such, now I have a significant minority of seedlings that have a pink blush. I would post pictures but the seedlings are small and my ability with a camera at close quarters poor. Why have I got some pink ones? Is there an even more recessive gene that has come out, or is the parent plant a cross itself, but only exhibiting the AF side of its nature or have I simply got a cross pollinated plant? Just curious.
Thanks in anticipation and sorry if it is a bit of a schoolboy question
Cheers
Steve
